It is with great pleasure that we announce we have some Olympian Champions in Crewe, thanks in some way to Grenson’s.

Back in July last year our service advisor Annabelle spent a large amount of her time to set up a charity Ladies Night along with a number of volunteers to raise funds to send 2 local girls to the special Olympics in Los Angeles.

Our great neighbours, and award winning dairy company, Fayrefield foods allowed us to use their site for parking for the evening and were wonderful in donating a massive £1000 to the girls cause. In all just under £3000 was raised which helped send the girls to the Special Olympics.
Today we have heard that they have done exceptionally well. The girls were absolutely amazing and not only did themselves and their families proud, but also GB.

Sophie in level 2a (the highest division at level 2) won:
Gold. Ball
Gold. Group Ball
Silver. Hoop
Silver. Clubs
Bronze All Round (3rd in World at level 2)
4th. Ribbon

Felicity at level 3a (the highest division at level 3) won:

Gold. Rope
Gold. Group Ball
Silver. Ribbon
4th. Overall (4th in world at level 4)
5th. Clubs

The Girls were up against at least 50 to 60 other girls in their levels from all over the world, and the competition was very strong, especially from Canada, Russia and China.

The Opening Ceremony was a very impressive occasion with Michelle Obama welcoming the athletes. Stevie Wonder also sang to the athletes and crowds. Many Celebrities joined in with the celebrations, Justin Bieber, Eva Langora to name but a few. Sophie even appeared on CBBC Newsround on the Thursday of the Games!!!!

All in all it was a fantastic achievement and an experience that neither girl will forget.
